Public health employees are well-poised to be powerful ambassadors for public health during client encounters, work in the field and personal time in your community. The #HealthierMO initiative recognizes this unique position and is working to create tools and resources to support you all in the role of public health ambassadors.

In March/April we collected input from more than 250 public health employees on their values, what they desire for their communities, and how influential they feel they are in the public health system. Many said they were passionate about public health and their jobs, but didn’t feel they had much influence. The #HealthierMO Communications Committee wants to explore further by hosting focus groups for public health employees around the state.

During these one-hour sessions, Committee members will ask approximately 10 questions in order to gain more insight into the values, needs and vision shared by public health employees.

Focus group size will be limited to 15 persons, in order to allow all participants time to contribute to discussion. Additional persons will be admitted if seating allows. Focus groups start May 15th, so please register ASAP at https://bit.ly/2DZLrY1.

Here are available meeting dates and times. Location details will be sent upon completed registration.
    • May 15, Poplar Bluff, 9:30 am – 10:30 am
    • May 16, Bolivar, 11:00 am – noon
    • May 16, St. Charles, 11:00 am – noon
    • May 17, West Plains, 9:30 am – 10:30 am
    • May 20, Shelbyville, 11:00 am – noon
    • May 22, Region H (virtual meeting), 8:30 am – 9:30 am
    • May 22, Kansas City, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Data collected during the focus group sessions will be used to inform development of tools and resources that support public health employees serving as ambassadors for public health. The final focus group report will include only de-identified, aggregate data and will be available upon request.

Group size is limited, so please register today at https://bit.ly/2DZLrY1. We look forward to hearing from public health employees around the state. You all truly are the heartbeat of Missouri, and together we can build a #HealthierMO!
