I’m wondering how many of you offer in-house water quality testing. I’m fairly new in my role as an administrator and inherited an incubator that we use for bacteriological testing. We don’t however have any quality control on the device itself. Soooooooo, if you do in-house testing, I’d appreciate knowing the following:
    – Do you charge for the testing and if so, how much?
    – Do you have any procedures in place to quality control the machine or process, and if so, would you be willing to share them?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    Good Morning Scott.
We have a wired in thermometer to monitor incubation temperature with a wire sensor in glycerin that stays in the incubator with the monitor outside and above. We use colisure as growth medium, which tests for coliforms and E.coli through magenta color change (+TOTAL COLIFORMS) and fluorescence (+ E.coli). The temp for incubation with that medium is 95f +/- 1/2 degree. The turnaround time is 24 hours minimum after being placed in the incubator.
We dip for nitrates/nitrites as well and the test costs 20.00.

We typically charge $50 for in house well water sampling and deliver samples straight to the State Health Lab for testing.
